Why do I need a doctor's prescription for my mattress?
The 100% cotton mattresses that do not contain chemical fire retardant materials or borate powder do not meet federal fire codes. Federal law states that In order to purchase a non-fire-retardant mattress, you will need to obtain a doctor's prescription (on prescription pad) for a chemical-free mattress.
Any licensed physician in your state may provide this simple prescription that states "patient requires bed made without chemical flame retardants" or "due to allergies, patient requires a chemical-free bed". A prescription from a licensed naturopathic physician or other holistic licensed doctor is acceptable. Chiropractors are licensed in all 50 states.
We acknowledge how ludicrous this is that we have to get a doctor's permission to protect ourselves and our children from poisons, but we must adhere to this law. Before we can process your 100% cotton mattress order, you must send us the script by fax or e-mail. Please be sure your name is clear on this prescription.
