How to Care for Your Natural Mattress
Preparing your New Mattress:
Natural cotton often retains a scent you may prefer to air out before using. Simply place your mattress and box spring in direct sunlight for a few hours - in a clean, dry environment. Nature will do the rest.
Caring for your organic mattress:
- Air your mattress and box spring regularly to help its natural fibers breathe.
- Protect the mattress by using a mattress pad and a mattress barrier cover.
- Turn and rotate the
mattress every 4 weeks
using the handles. Place your mattress
on a box spring
or slat foundation. Do not carry the mattress
using the handles. Carry
it flat or on its side. Do not allow the
mattress to get wet. For stains, use a
non-toxic spot cleaner.
Refreshing the appearance of your organic mattress:
An easy, natural way to revive the beauty of your mattress is spot cleaning with a solution of 1:3 parts white distilled vinegar and water. Spray the solution on the spot, then expose it to direct sunlight until the stain fades and any scent of the vinegar disappears. Make sure the mattress is entirely dry before returning it to use.
If you prefer to use a non-toxic spot cleaner, follow the manufacturer's directions and make sure the cleaner dries completely before you use your mattress.
