Custom Organic Cotton Porta Crib Mattress

Naturepedic's normal organic cotton porta-crib mattress size is 24 x 38 x 1.5"  Price $109.

All other sizes are custom sizes for $134 and may take up to 3 weeks before shipping. We can only make a mattress for frames with a solid foundation and sides for safety reasons.  Please confirm solid frame when ordering.  Please contact us if you have any questions regarding custom size options. 

To Order Custom Sizes:

Please measure your porta-crib very carefully! Measure both length and width. Either measure the original mattress and give us those measurements, or measure the INSIDE of the space for the mattress to go. Please double-check the measurements.

The mattresses depth maximum is 1.5" thick.

We can make custom sizes for bassinets, cradles, co-sleepers and porta-cribs. Please select the item that is closest to your measurements, i.e., if your mattress measurements are closest to 15" x 30", order the custom bassinet mattress. If it is closer to 18" x 36", order the custom cradle mattress. If it is closer to 24" x 38", order the custom porta-crib mattress. 

Enter Size (length x width x depth) into the custom size box above and choose rectangle (for square corners) or oval (for oval shape or any mattress with rounded edges).  Example: 20" x 34" x 1.5"

IMPORTANT - If purchasing an oval shaped mattress or any mattress with rounded edges:

Naturepedic will need a diagram of the mattress so they know exactly how it should be rounded. You can either send a tracing of the original porta-crib mattress (or the inside of the porta-crib) or send them the actual mattress that came with it. They will send it back with the new one.

NOTE: Naturepedic cannot begin making the mattress until they receive the diagram.

What Makes this Organic Porta-Crib Mattress so Special?

Waterproof, Easy-To-Clean Surface

The Naturepedic organic porta-crib mattress has an organic cotton fabric cover with a thin clear coating of polyethylene to make it waterproof and dust mite proof. The polyethylene coating is super strong, tear resistant, waterproof, non-allergenic, and very easy-to-clean. It provides an impenetrable barrier to dust mites and other allergens. This mattress contains NO phthalates and no harmful chemicals whatsoever. This has been independently tested and confirmed.

Having a waterproof mattress will save you a lot of aggravation. Baby fluids such as urine, spit-up, and dribble can cause proliferation of bacteria and fungal growth in a non-waterproof mattress and may create an unsafe sleeping environment for your baby. Vinyl/PVC, the covering of most inexpensive waterproof mattresses, is the most toxic plastic available and contains phthalates - toxic chemicals recently banned from toys but not mattresses.

Polyethylene is largely considered to be the most non-toxic and environmentally friendly plastic available. Polyethylene has a very simple molecular structure that does not require toxic chemical additives, and is an excellent alternative to the vinyl/PVC found in nearly all crib mattresses. It eliminates the toxic chemicals without eliminating convenience. The organic cotton bassinet mattress features a specially formulated, non-toxic polyethylene waterproof surface, so pure that it meets food contact standards (independently tested by Intertek)!

Cotton does not burst into flames or release deadly fumes when ignited (as compared with polyurethane foam). Naturepedic's exclusive fire protection is created from baking soda and hydrated silica, a safe, non-toxic alternative. Meets and exceeds all Federal and State flammability standards.

Naturepedic's fire protection contains no PBDEs or any brominated or chlorinated fire retardants.  It contains no antimony, arsenic or phosphorus, no PAN (polyacrylonitrile), modacrylic, no dimethyl sulfate, and no boric acid, and no respirable crystaline silica. Firm Support

The Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends a firm flat sleeping surface for babies. This mattress features Air-Core™, a non-toxic environmentally friendly support layer made from 100% food-grade polyethylene. Air-Core is a network of closed cell air pockets that provide a firm and comfortable base without the toxic properties of polyurethane foam and the allergenic concerns of latex rubber.

Environmentally Friendly Materials

Features U.S. grown and certified organic cotton filling and covering. The food-grade polyethylene waterproof coating has a simple molecular structure that makes it unnecessary to use toxic chemicals in its production or add chemical plasticizers such as phthalates to make it soft. Typical waterproof covers and pads use vinyl/PVC, which releases dioxin into the environment during production and requires the use of phthalates that are harmful to both children and the environment. The polyurethane foam filling used in most mattresses is produced with numerous toxic chemicals. Switching from PVC/vinyl and polyurethane foam to organic cotton and polyethylene helps promote a healthier and safer environment. 

Mattress Pads, Sheets and Bedding

A 100% organic cotton pad and 100% organic cotton fitted sheet are recommended. All bedding placed on top of the porta-crib mattress should be 100% cotton, preferrably organic. No mattress pads, covers, sheets, or blankets made from synthetic materials are considered safe for a baby. This porta-crib mattress is already waterproof; therefore no waterproof mattress pad is necessary. No dust mite cover is necessary - this mattress is already dust mite proof.

Not Meant for Use with Pac n Play

Although they are sturdy and firm for other porta-cribs that have a solid base and sides, these custom porta-crib mattresses cannot be made for Pac n Play portable cribs or any portable frames without a solid base and with mesh siding. These mattresses do not have a solid base built inside of them like the pad that comes with the Pac n Play. Babies need support from a solid foundation. Also cannot be used with mesh siding because the baby could get lodged in between the pad and the siding.
