Foamcore Dreamton Futon Mattress

No machinery, no mass production. White Lotus artisans make each product one by one. They have been doing this for over 25 years. These White Lotus mattresses are layered with unbleached and undyed cotton - one layer at a time - by hand. They hand-quilt the mattresses with a thin, sharp needle to ensure that the batting won't break, shift or lump.

This mattress is handcrafted with two inch Ultracel foam core, centered in 100% GREEN cotton and wrapped in a one inch layer of New Zealand virgin lamb wool. This mattress has no added chemicals as fire retardants, and since it is wrapped in wool, does not require a doctor's note. Ultracel foam is high density, high resilience foam made with a water based process and will not off-gas. This mattress is recommended for a bi- or tri-fold futon frame and will also work well on any bed frame.

White Lotus makes custom mattresses in many sizes including different depths. We offer 5 inch depth futons and 6 inch depth, like the futon mattresses, but with side panels and handles. Please contact us for a quote if you prefer a different depth and size.

These mattresses normally last 10 to 15 years.

Ultracel Foam

Ultracel uses no CFCs and no methylene chloride - the foam is created through a process that uses water and uses no blowing agents at all. White Lotus strives to achieve two major goals. One is friendliness to the Earth and its inhabitants and the other is quality. They found a type of foam that helps them to achieve both - Ultracel. White Lotus is the only mattress maker that uses this type of foam.

Wool

Wool draws moisture away from the body, keeping a layer of insulating dry air next to the skin leaving you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. A natural temperature regulator, wool's countless tiny coils are able to absorb moisture without feeling damp, drawing it away from your body so that it can evaporate. Wool is naturally flame retardant. Wool's crimpiness allows it to keep its resiliency. It cradles your body as you sleep and bounces back to it's original loft when you get out of bed. Wool will provide a dry, healthful and comfy sleeping surface for years on end. White Lotus' wool is 100% virgin lambswool that has only been washed with a mild detergent.

Green Cotton

100% GREEN cotton mattresses offer a healthier night's sleep at an affordable price. The cotton is unbleached and undyed - very pure, clean, "green" cotton.

Important Information

These mattresses are not waterproof, they are water resistant with wool. If children sleep in this bed you may need waterproofing. Protect your mattress from moisture and accidents with an organic pure wool moisture pad Pure Wool Moisture Pad or an organic cotton waterproof pad Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Pad .

NOTE: These cotton futons may have a natural botanical cotton odor that will dissipate with time. Most people don’t notice it or don’t mind it, but some people can be sensitive to the natural botanical smell. This is not a manufacturing defect.

White Lotus Home organic and Green cotton mattresses are available in standard and custom sizes. They also custom make mattresses, cushions and pillows to your specifications. These mattresses normally last last 10-15 years but some customers keep them longer...It is also recommended to change your mattresses every 10 years or so.
