This mattress is very firm. Most people find it very comfortable, but if you like a softer mattress we recommend adding the Naturepedic 3 inch Organic Comfort Mattress Topper.

I made the mistake of purchasing a mattress set from a brand name company, even though I heard about the offgassing and numerous toxic chemicals in a mattress. Can't be that bad, I thought. Wrong. As soon as the mattress set was delivered, I realized I made a terrible mistake. The chemical smell was beyond belief and I woke up every morning with sinus problems and a headache. I had to wash my sheets every other day as the chemicals penetrated them. After two months of misery and dreading sleeping on that mattress, I had the store pick up the set and started my research on organic mattresses. I decided to purchase a Naturepedic organic queen mattress set from Healthy Child. It arrived in two weeks. I ordered this mattress in the queen size with the box spring as well. I am so happy with it. I did a lot of research on toxic mattresses causing SIDS when my son was born and ended up ordering him a same mattress from Healthy Child in the crib size. I loved it so much. I knew that our mattress was also filled with toxic junk and am so glad I finally decided to replace it with Healthy Child's mattress. It is a little more firm than my previous mattress and sits a little lower, but it looks great and I find it very comfortable. If I wanted it softer I would look into an organic pillow top mattress cover, but I am very comfortable with it even though it is slightly firmer than what I had. I love to know that if we have a 2nd child our baby can breastfeed in bed and not be in harms way of all the typical toxic mattress chemicals.
Peace of mind and so worth it!
