Something is Wrong with Our Kids

Over half the kids in America are chronically sick with at least one of these conditions:

  • Asthma
  • Allergies
  • Eczema
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Obesity
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Autism
  • Autoimmune disease
  • Learning disabilities
  • Developmental delays

The newest data on autism is that 1 in 36 American kids have an autism spectrum disorder. Pediatric disorders that were once rare or non-existent are now soaring out of control. More than one in four kids are taking at least one prescription drug.

Serious behavioral issues are becoming common. More than one million American kids under five years old takes a psychiatric drug for some sort of behavioral disorder. More than 8.3 million kids under 17 have taken one or more psychiatric drugs.

There are a lot of other kids who haven’t yet been diagnosed with an illness who are deeply out of balance and near their tipping point.

Does your child have any of these symptoms?

  • frequent runny noses or cough
  • red cheeks or ears
  • dark circles under the eyes
  • recurring ear infections or other infections
  • bedwetting or daytime accidents in an already potty-trained child
  • constipation
  • reflux
  • diarrhea
  • frequent tummy aches
  • frequent temper tantrums for no apparent reason
  • persistent aggressive behavior
  • sensitivity to sounds, light, odors
  • avoidance of certain textures
  • over-reaction to tags in clothing
  • constant throat clearing
  • obsessive or compulsive type behaviors
  • verbal or physical tics
  • persistent non-compliant or oppositional behavior

These issues have become the new normal. Yes, they are quite common, but there is nothing normal about any of these issues. They are signs of an underlying imbalance, that if left alone or suppressed with over-the-counter or prescription drugs, could manifest into a chronic diagnosed condition.

There is good news!

This all might sound pretty alarming, but the good news is that all of those symptoms and most of the chronic diagnosed conditions mentioned above can be healed and resolved once you determine the causes and deal with them successfully. When you can determine the right interventions and eliminate the obstacles to health, the condition can disappear.

What’s going on?

Our kids are out of balance. When you think about the signs and symptoms of autism, asthma, ADHD, and allergies, they all look like completely different conditions. But when you look at the underlying imbalances in all of them, you can see a lot of similarities. You might look at it as one epidemic with different symptoms arising from common underlying imbalances.

If your child has one or more of the above diagnoses, conditions, signs or symptoms, here are some of the possible underlying imbalances you may want to explore:

  • Chronic inflammation
  • Immune dysregulation
  • Gut dysbiosis
  • Microbiome imbalances
  • Leaky gut
  • Food allergies or sensitivities
  • Nutrient deficiencies
  • Toxic exposures
  • Environmental stressors
  • Genetic mutations that affect the ability to detox
  • Excessive oxidative stress
  • Mitochondrial dysfunction
  • Methylation issues
  • Exposure to mold
  • Birth trauma or other types of trauma
  • Emotional issues
  • Stress
  • Structural imbalance
  • Hormone imbalance or disruption

Most kids with chronic illnesses will have several of these underlying imbalances. I’ll be delving more deeply and thoroughly into each of these in future articles so be sure to subscribe to Healthy Child Newsletter to learn more. I will outline the steps you can take to help your child get well. Much of this you can do on your own, and I can also help you find the right doctors who can work with you when necessary.
